Helping others

Ever thought about becoming a volunteer? Options for volunteering are available in numerous organizations throughout the state. Being a volunteer can impact the lives of many people including your own. Boys and Girls club is a after school program providing students with many activities at a low rate fee. It is a non-profit organization. I've been an employee of The Boys and Girls club of Manchester for the past eight years. I have worked with every age group from first graders to seniors in high school. I'm currently the assistant teen center director. I run programs that teens can benefit from while having fun.
There are currently around twenty volunteers at my workplace. Volunteers can donate their time as often as they choose, the activity they are most interested in is also up to them. They are volunteer tutors, coaches, dance teachers, and many more. Take a second and think about being a volunteer for a day, what would you do?

  1. 8 years!? It's great that you found a place where you enjoy working, while being able to help people at the same time. Those kids must be very grateful!

  2. I think program's like Boys and Girls club and the YMCA are great outlets for kids. I also feel as though we need more around here so every child can have the chance to join.

  3. This seems like it would be a great experience! I was a member of the YMCA in Manchester as a child, it seems very similar.

  4. I've worked with Big Brother's and Big Sister's organization through the Boys and Girls Club after school program and I think it's a great program for volunteering. Volunteering is super easy and it does make a difference on the kids. It's great that you are so active with these activites!

  5. Excellent first post subject! I've been producing the seven-minute, fund-raising videos for the Concord Boys and Girls Club for the past four years. It's such an incredible organization that really helps children, teens, and their families.

  6. The benefits of these programs have been proven time and again. Helping children and teens creates a real change, keeps people out of trouble, and gives back to the community. It is also a great way to find out things about yourself. Great work.

  7. Being a volunteer has many benefits. You can do something that you are passionate about, and in this case, there seems to be a lot of flexibility if you want to mix things up a bit. Also volunteer work looks great on resumes. It's proof that you find the intangible rewards from a job well done more valuable than the monetary rewards.

  11. what a better place this world is when people put others before themselves. This really warms my heart to hear how far people go out of their way everyday. This is something that everyone needs to get involved in, if not for themselves for others

  12. I find it great that you take the time out of your busy schedule to volunteer! I used to work at the YMCA as a counselor so I know how much the kids must appreciate your time and company! More people need to look into doing volunteer work even if it's only once a week!
