The Tao of Twitter by Mark Schaefer is a great outlet for anyone who is not familiar with Twitter. I have had my own twitter account for about two years now.  Some of the information in the book I learned on my own. But the author gets into more detailed ways to promote yourself or a story you’re trying to share.  Almost every company or organization has a twitter. This site is a great way to stay connected to the things that interest you the most. Mark gives great advice about how to stay professional, even though twitter can be your personal account.

Worldwide rave by David Meerman Scott is probably my favorite out of the books required for media writing class. The information is very useful and up to date. The author is also funny which makes the book more enjoyable to read. I also like how he has stories from people who actually started at the bottom and created a powerful empire. He is blunt in certain areas too, which makes him more respected by me. I would rather someone tell me the honest truth about my work. He has a great way of helping others to believe in their own work. He wants his readers to be successful.

Date Smart Event

My event is going to be a one day event for preteens. It will be for teens who completed a program at the boys and girls club and also for any local teens. The program is called Date Smart. It's a eight week program that happens once a week. The goal of the program is to promote healthy relationships. At the event there will be games, food, sessions, and a trivia game at the end. I will contact local organizations to see if they would like to be a part of the event.

Mirco-fiction

As soon as I roll out of my bed I head straight to my keruig. When the aroma of the coffee fills the air, I start to wake up little by little. This is how my mornings begin. I love coffee, it is my addiction. As the mug is filled with the flavor of hazelnut, I begin to ponder what day is it? I add some sugar and pour in cream or milk whichever is available. The first sip is always the best. After my fresh coffee is made I then start my day.

I was a former regular at Dunkin Donuts. I would sit in the drive-thru line forever just to get my coffee. I spent way too much money on coffee. The worst feeling is when they hand over the coffee and you can already tell they made it wrong. This causes a mood change in a heartbeat. I then realized I could be making my own cup of joe. That way it always comes out the way I like it, and the best part is I could save money. This new coffee machine was becoming popular called the keruig. It made one single cup of coffee at your convenience. The only problem was the price range was from sixty to one-hundred dollars. I’m a full time student and part-time worker, to me that’s expensive. My search on craigslist began; I knew the internet may be my best bet.

Many of my co-workers at work are also coffee drinkers, they prefer Dunkin Donuts. I was talking to one of them about my search for a keruig, and to my surprise her sister had an extra one. This had to be luck; I only had to pay twenty dollars for it. Now, almost every day I use it for a cup of happiness.  Coffee shops are no longer taking my money.  I no longer rush to Dunkin Donuts in order to not be late for class. I never wanted to be that person who fights over a parking spot. My need for coffee is not that intense.

Helping others

Ever thought about becoming a volunteer? Options for volunteering are available in numerous organizations throughout the state. Being a volunteer can impact the lives of many people including your own. Boys and Girls club is a after school program providing students with many activities at a low rate fee. It is a non-profit organization. I've been an employee of The Boys and Girls club of Manchester for the past eight years. I have worked with every age group from first graders to seniors in high school. I'm currently the assistant teen center director. I run programs that teens can benefit from while having fun.
There are currently around twenty volunteers at my workplace. Volunteers can donate their time as often as they choose, the activity they are most interested in is also up to them. They are volunteer tutors, coaches, dance teachers, and many more. Take a second and think about being a volunteer for a day, what would you do?
